A Wordy Post

For a change :-)

Val posted this meme on her blog:
A. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

B. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.

C. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.

D. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

E. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
If you want me to ask you some questions, ask me in your comment, "interview me". I will send questions to the first two (so you must be someone whose email address I have).

Here are the questions Val sent me, and my answers to them.

1. How where and when did you meet your life partner?
This could be a long story, but I'll keep it short for fear of boring everyone. I met J at a drop-in centre run by MIND ( a mental health charity) on October 31st 1987. I was there to see my mum, J was volounteering, we clicked and moved in together a month later. 21 years on here we are

2. What's your first memory as a child?
I have a couple, but I've already told people about the doll, so I'll go with being given my first cat when I was 3. Lukey was a feral kitten from the local farm, he arrived in the basket of my aunty's bike. When he was handed to me he started to hiss and then scratched my face. I adored him.

3. What is the most embarrassing experience you've ever had?
Apart from giving birth in a room full of medical students? I suppose it would be having a full blown panic attack in front of a lot of teenage boys when Gareth brought a snake home 2 weeks ago. I knew I didn't particularlyl ike snakes, but I didn't realise I was phobic about them until one was in the house. It didn't stay for long and I still can't look my sons friends in the face.

4. What first attracted you to Vincent?
You know, I really have no idea what first attracted me..his mind maybe...all I know is I saw him on LOCI and that was it. I kept thinking about him, and, as we had no internet connection at the time, made Hannah find some pictures of him using the school computer. They weren't enough, so I had the net reconnected, found a couple of web-sites, and eventually started blogging. I've come to appreciate all his 'finer points' in the process :-D

5. What is your favourite book (of a VDO film or not)?
You couldn't have asked a harder question if you tried. I have bookcases everywhere (including the bathroom)Thankfully Amazon and E-bay are good for used books so I haven't bankrupted us yet. OK....The Cat Who Came In From The Cold'by Deric Longden has to be one....it led me on to all his other books and it's still one I read regularly. Thumbsucker is another one...I've read it more than I've watched the film, and that's saying something. It has a lot more detail that the film, and it shows you just how much they had to cut out. Oh, and I have to include Matthew Modines Full Metal Jacket Diary, just because he talks about Vincent and it has some wonderful pictures.

That was great! I love the way you tell how the cat scratched you straight away, then add that you adored him! As for the snake, I had no idea.

I agree that Deric Longden is a great writer. Have you read his Lost For Words, or did you see it televised? It starred Thora Hurd as his mother going through a series of strokes, and it was absolutely brilliant.

Well done on the 'wordy' post Eliza, and that picture of Vincent with MMs wife is one of my all-time favourites. It was also thanks to you I bought the 'FMJ Diary', even if I have yet to actually READ it (I do have a profound 'thing' about FMJ)

My hubby HATES...no wait, loathes snakes.
I don't mind them, used to play with them when I was a little girl.

I too have bookcases everywhere..including the bathroom. I love books. I love old books stores, new book stores..even the smell of the library.

Interesting post. No snakes in my house either. Very nice idea. I'd say interview me but I'd like to see Music Wench or BobbyG, and many others tagged.
