While I'm not sure if my 'velocityof vincent' hotmail account was hacked into (don't know how it would be as I never ever give out my password, which I had to change too) I do know that some very dodgy e-mails were sent from it yesterday. I only really found out because I 'sent' one to myself, which made me suspicious. Having checked my 'sent' folder I found that the same e-mail had been sent to everyone on my contact list, although I don't know if they were delivered. If you get/got an e-mail from me with
hi7 or
hi g as the title, please delete it, it's a scam :-(

Yes, the tv reported on it; from what I have heard only microsoft's hotmail is affected. But you can never know...!
Sorry to hear you have problems; chanching passwords is VERY painful!
It's horrible when the Techno-gods bite you in the bum! I did hear something on the TV about Google accounts or something may have been hacked?
Sorry you were 'attacked' Eliza..
Jazzy, they later announced that Yahoo had also been affected, and I think something else that I don't remember.
It was a useful thing to have happened in a way, 'cos I got what was probably a legitimate phone call last night about an accident insurance policy being offered by my breakdown service. I was going to let them sign me up so that I would get the literature to read, but could then cancel if I wished, but he wanted me to give him my bank details. As he cold called me, I of course refused, without a second thought because of the phishing scam.
Thanks a lot for the info, Val!
